Is it possible for someone to access my home computer and change log in details for websites?

My boyfriend tried to log into bebo from our home computer the other day and there was a strange user name in the required field box. Neither of us know who this person is. Is it possible someone has accessed our home computer? If so, how? It seems some computer history may have been deleted too? Please help - quite concerned at the moment and could do without the stress during my final year at uni.
