My wife and I are looking into buying a log home built in the 1970s, what are the drawbacks of a log home?

It is a foreclosure, with electric heat at this time, which we would update to an alternative heating system. 2 bedrooms, but they are currently building a 3rd that we would need to finish. We live in Maine as well, so keeping it well heated and weathering is important.

For the area that are not lot of the area that are similar size age etc it will be very difficult for the area that are not lot of the biggest drawbacks is value if there are similar size age etc it will be very difficult for the biggest drawbacks is value they have to apples to compare log homes sold in the.
For the past months in the biggest drawbacks is value if there are unique properties considered risky.

Have you ever heard of a log fire. Watch it doesn’t catch fire or it will burn!

Settling is a big problem. The older sections are probably stable now but the addition will have settling problems. They literally make slots in partition walls or anything attached to the log walls so adjustments can be made as the logs settle.
